Blue Hill - The Gallant House is a ten minute drive from the town of Blue Hill where you will find all professional and marine services,
a full service supermarket and pharmacy, lovely shops, restaurants, bookstores, an organic food co-op, antique stores and art galleries.
The hospital and library are among the finest in the state. The Kneisel Hall Chamber Music School offers concerts on Friday evenings and
Sunday afternoons throughout the summer.
Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor - Acadia National Park and the town
of Bar Harbor, located on Mount Dessert Island, are located approximately one
hour east. ANP encompasses over 47K acres of granite-domed mountains, woodlands,
lakes and ponds. From Cadillac Mountain you can view the Porcupine Islands in
Frenchman's Bay. You can rent bicycles and tour the 45 miles of historic carriage
trails or hike any of the 120 miles of trails throughout the park and afterwards
enjoy afternoon tea and the legendary "popovers" served at the Jordon Pond House.
In Bar Harbor you can visit the renowned Abbe Museum with its unique collection
of Maine Native American artifacts and exhibits; or, take "The CAT", a high-speed
catamaran ferry, for a one-day whirlwind tour of Nova Scotia.
Deer Isle and Stonington - The Deer Isle Bridge and scenic causeway lead the way to a number of coastal Maine attractions on Deer Isle. There are numerous fine art and craft galleries
on the island and the Haystack School of Crafts located in Sunset offers evening slide lectures. The charming fishing village of Stonington has restaurants,
an antique bookstore and shops. From here there is boat service to Isle Au Haut, an unique island, most of which is part of Acadia National Park and a great
place for hiking and bird watching.
